Style Assessment

There was a fair amount of interest expressed about last month’s reference to what I call the quarter-half-quarter rule. Many Tracy businesspeople want to know more about that rule.

The quarter-half-quarter rule says that our natural communication style will work well with a quarter of the people, be acceptable to half the people, and will irritate a quarter of the people. People can be categorized as being in one of four distinct groups and each group responds differently to communications.  This article touches on why these styles need to be considered when interacting with other people.

Business is about dealing with people whether they are employees, bosses, suppliers, or customers.  We may communicate with a common language, but there are four styles of people using that language.  Have you ever noticed that there are some people who are easy to get along with, while others might seem to be too pushy, too cold, not serious, or overly passive?

Editorial- Change

I am proud to announce that Mary McClain consulting of Alameda, CA has chosen to become part of the Time-Slice affiliation.  Mary is now available to help companies organize their finances.

Mary is the first of several consultants who are discussing an affiliate relationship.  This is good for Tracy businesses and allows us to bring in the appropriate resources for any business problem.

Tracy is a growing and thriving community.  It has been my pleasure to be part of this community for twenty years.  I hope to continue watching both my consulting firm, and the community, grow together.

Newsletter Goes On-Line

I was gratified by the positive feedback  from  the first two issues of this newsletter.  Many people offered suggestions that will be incorporated into a new electronic format to be unveiled next month.

It’s clear from the feedback that Tracy does not have enough representation in the way of feature articles about our business community.  I am addressing this issue through the expanded format of the new on-line newsletter that will feature more local businesses and their owners.
