The Greytful Dog A special Barkery and Boutique for you and your dog.
|
|
What does a person do after adopting four racing greyhounds? The answer is
to open a boutique dedicated to dogs. That is exactly what Jane McNamara
did as she opened The
Greytful Dog Barkery and Boutique. Located in the
historic Tracy downtown area, she caters to dog owners who are looking for
special gifts for their dogs, for themselves, and for friends.
A visit to the store provides in a warm welcome from either Jane or Phillip, partners who operate the store together. You may also be welcomed by Dylan, Kyra, Gunther, or James, the Greyhound of the day who can often be found relaxing on a pad in the rear of the store. The large number of items in the store that are for sale may overwhelm some people.
Businesses are started for a variety of reasons, but the story of The
Greytful Dog is somewhat unique. Jane and Phillip became interested in the
plight of the Greyhound dogs that were retired from racing and looking for
homes. They chose to adopt one of the retired racers for themselves and a
love affair began with the breed. They now own four of the retired racers,
Jane can spend her work day with one of the adopted children who are often
sleeping in the store. |
The rear of the store provides the most unique aspects of The Greytful Dog
with the grocery store display case of baked cookies and treats available
for your dog. All of their freshly baked treats are made from natural
ingredients. They carry the world’s only 100 percent Wild freeze dried
Alaskan Salmon treats that dogs and cats are crazy about. There are also
several barrels of dry dog treats that may be purchased and taken home for
your favorite dog.
The Greytful Dog is the only store in the area that specializes in supplying canine birthday parties. You can purchase a fresh baked canine birthday cake, party hats, party treats, invitations, and party treats bags. You may even purchase the perfect gift for the birthday dog when you have been invited to attend another dog’s birthday party. Jane and Phillip remain actively involved in the adoption process. They will work with a customer to guide them into the best breed for their purposes and maintain contacts with the various breed adoption organizations. Any adoption agency that contacts them will be kept on file and people will be referred to the agency when they come in looking for a good pet. |
One might think that a small store in historic downtown Tracy might
represent the boutique atmosphere of a small town store, but it also
represents one of the more progressive companies in Tracy. Jane has added
e-commerce capability to her web site so that people throughout the
country can purchase her products. She has had some problems with the
software so she will be temporarily removing it the shopping cart from the
store, but she will be accepting fax, e-mail and phone orders and
delivering as usual until she has the opportunity to move the shopping
cart to another provider who will provide services more consistent with
the image she wants to convey.
Well-mannered dogs on leashes are welcome in the store. You may also view her web site at: TheGreytfulDog.
